Subsequently, AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm, accompanied by Mariah May, showed up to address Shirakawa and proposed a unique AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024 bout. The challenge was publicly announced and the “forbidden door” was declared open. Shirakawa willingly accepted the proposed duel challenge.
The much-anticipated pay-per-view event is set to take place on June 30 at the UBS Arena in the heart of New York. The fight card confirmed thus far includes a thrilling face-off between Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay for the prestigious AEW World Championship. Moreover, a gutsy ladder match will be fought for the currently vacant TNT Championship, with Konosuke Takeshita being one of the gutsy contenders.
