Hulk Hogan himself described Bill Goldberg as the equivalent of a Hulk Hogan 2.0 in regards to his significant draw in the wrestling world.
Goldberg, during his tenure at WCW, amassed an impressive and rather controversial winning streak of 173-0 which halted when he was defeated by Kevin Nash, thanks to Scott Hall’s taser, during the Starrcade 1998 pay-per-view event.
In a recent episode of the “Wrestle Binge” podcast, Hogan reflected on Goldberg’s period in WCW and the extensive popularity that Goldberg enjoyed. He expressed,
“You could say, ‘Well, Goldberg should have never been beaten. He was a spectacle.’ From the standpoint of the movie industry and the entertainment sector, numerous Jewish individuals were likely upset because this was the pioneering instance of us having a 300-pound T-Rex juggernaut. He was the rebirth of Hulk Hogan in terms of a magnet.”
“I believe Goldberg should have retained his undefeated streak. That could have been one thing that would have maintained the revenue inflow, but decisions were made, and different individuals had control over the situation.”
Hogan, who was incorporated in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and again as a member of the nWo in the 2020 class, was in a position to view Goldberg’s rise, who later took his place in the Hall of Fame in 2018.
