A new docuseries about the rise and fall of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) has been produced by Seven Bucks Productions, the team behind “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson’s independent production company. This docuseries debuted on Tuesday night following the success of their previous work called “Tales from the Territories”.
The docuseries titled, “Who Killed the WCW?” was executive produced by Dwayne Johnson along with Dany Garcia. Yet, the project lacks participation from the legendary Hulk Hogan, as Brian Gewirtz mentioned during his appearance on the Cheap Heat podcast with Peter Rosenberg.
Gewirtz clarified, “We did approach Hulk. Yet, he will not be seen narrating in the documentary. All attempts from both sides didn’t pan out. He won’t appear on screen, but opinions about him – both complimentary and negative ones – are well covered on the show. And without a doubt, his perspective is well-represented all the same.”
Gewirtz went on to add that, “Despite Hogan’s absence, his perspective from the time of his involvement in WCW, are reflected in the series, from his signing, his transition to a villain role, his mismatched conclusion with Sting, his showdown with Goldberg, the notorious Finger Poke of Doom incident, and Bash at the Beach. Eric, who is close to Hogan, has been able to shed light on many of these instances. Therefore, even though Hogan isn’t verbally contributing to the show, his presence can be felt throughout it.”
