How Will You Rebound From John Cena Breaking Up With You? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to the latest eWrestlingNews Question of the Day discussion!

There’s an old saying: “It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.” John Cena has now metaphorically “broken up” with all his fans, effectively ending a so-called “toxic relationship” that he sees as a 20-year grapple with bullying.

We anticipated this happening, it was clear as day. Though distance may make the heart grow fonder, emotions can simmer dangerously under the surface. Finally, the realization dawned: the spark was never as alive as it was before and it was best for everyone to part ways, learn from this and embrace their authentic selves.

In true Cena style, this was expertly handled under the guise of a heel promo. I found it entertaining and thought we should embrace the sheer absurdity of the situation. It’s almost like navigating a real-life breakup, filled with emotional rollercoasters.

Which brings me to today’s question: “What’s your take on John Cena walking away from the fans, and how will you deal with this change in the wrestling landscape?”

As for my take…

I’ve been fortunate enough to be the one ending most of my past relationships, or at least agreeing to a mutual separation. Yes, being dumped isn’t a great feeling, but the one time it happened to me, I bounced back by exploring other opportunities.

This method may not work for everyone, though. In the world of pro-wrestling, however, fans can bounce from Cena to other wrestlers. While it might feel like a series of random flings at first, eventually, a new favorite wrestler would emerge, and they could tag in.

Alright, I won’t labor on this metaphor. But on a serious note, there’s an interesting dilemma here: what should Cena’s diehard fans do now? How do they move on and where to?

Personally, I was never a huge Cena supporter to begin with, but I do enjoy analyzing pro wrestling. But what about those fans who are truly upset about losing a hero like Cena? How should they navigate the blurred lines between fiction and reality?

I’d hope they soon find solace and excitement in cheering on Cody Rhodes – Cena’s rival. The intent is to rally all of Cena’s fans over to Rhodes’s side. They should view Rhodes as the beacon, their new hope who’ll either vanquish the “evil” Cena or cause him to see the light again.

Some fans may find relief in supporting other rising stars like Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, or CM Punk. In essence, they start to ‘play the field.’ But for those unable to cope, they may shun wrestling altogether or switch to AEW as a form of silent protest.

And, of course, there’d be fans who’d keep praying for Cena to return, promising to stand by him no matter what. Some may even flood his Instagram posts in a bid to show their unwavering support. However, this obsessive behavior isn’t healthy, not just for the fandom but also their real lives.

For such fans, the age-old saying comes to mind – “If you love something, set it free. If it returns, it’s yours. If not, it was never meant to be.” So take a breath, have some fun, and look forward to Cena’s possible comeback in 2025!
