Following Sting’s retirement at AEW Revolution 2024, WWE acknowledged the Icon on last week’s episode of WWE RAW.

Speaking on a recent episode of his “Tuesday with the Taskmaster” podcast, Kevin Sullivan praised WWE for doing the right thing.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On Pat McAfee shouting out Sting: “I don’t think McAfee did that on his own. I think that was Hunter [Triple H] telling him to do that.”

On WWE making the gesture: “[Triple H is] a brilliant, brilliant guy. And, besides that, he’s a huge wrestling fan. … And Sting did the job for him. So I thought it showed a lot of class. That would never have been done with Vince [McMahon].”

In a recent episode of WWE RAW, the retirement of wrestling legend Sting at AEW Revolution 2024 was acknowledged by WWE. This gesture was praised by Kevin Sullivan, a former professional wrestler and current host of the podcast “Tuesday with the Taskmaster.”

During his podcast, Sullivan commended WWE for doing the right thing by acknowledging Sting’s retirement. He specifically mentioned Pat McAfee, a former NFL player and current WWE commentator, who gave a shoutout to Sting during the episode.

Sullivan speculated that McAfee’s shoutout was not an independent decision but rather something instructed by Triple H, also known as Hunter Hearst Helmsley, an executive and wrestler in WWE. Sullivan believes that Triple H, being a brilliant and huge wrestling fan, recognized the significance of Sting’s retirement and wanted to pay tribute to him.

Sullivan further expressed his admiration for Triple H, stating that he is not only intelligent but also a class act. He contrasted Triple H’s actions with those of Vince McMahon, the chairman and CEO of WWE. According to Sullivan, McMahon would not have made such a gesture, highlighting the difference in approach between the two executives.

Sting, whose real name is Steve Borden, is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He gained fame in various wrestling promotions throughout his career, including WCW (World Championship Wrestling) and TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling). After a long and successful career, Sting retired from in-ring competition at AEW Revolution 2024.

The acknowledgment of Sting’s retirement by WWE demonstrates the respect and recognition given to him by the wrestling industry as a whole. It also signifies the importance of honoring the contributions and legacy of legendary wrestlers like Sting.

Overall, Kevin Sullivan’s praise for WWE’s gesture highlights the significance of Sting’s retirement and the impact he has had on the wrestling community. It also sheds light on the different approaches taken by executives in the wrestling industry and the level of respect shown towards wrestling icons.
