Brock Lesnar entered the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble Match as the surprise #30 entrant and dominated everyone to win the bout and earn a WWE World Championship match at WrestleMania 38.

The victory made Lesnar the fourth Superstar to win from the #30 spot and the ninth two-time Royal Rumble winner, his first win being in 2003.

During a recent virtual signing with “Signed By Superstars,” former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle claimed that he was originally billed to win the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble Match.

However, Lesnar decided to flip the script and demanded that he win the match, and the finish was reportedly changed.

Riddle said, “So I believe — you know it’s sports entertainment — but I was told that I was going to win the Rumble and everything else, and then Bobby Lashley beat Brock Lesnar because somebody came in and hit him with the belt or what have you. Then Brock came in, didn’t want to do business with everybody, said he was winning, and then he won. Like, none of the producers, nobody stood up to him and they let him do it. I didn’t either.”

However, there are conflicting reports regarding the winner of the 2022 Royal Rumble Match.

Pwinsider reported at the time that Riddle was the frontrunner to win the match until a late change, while Orton was also pitched as the winner.

Lesnar was reportedly written in as the winner for at least two weeks before the show took place at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

The 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble Match was an event filled with surprises and intense competition. One of the biggest surprises came in the form of Brock Lesnar, who entered the match as the surprise #30 entrant and went on to dominate everyone and win the bout. This victory earned Lesnar a WWE World Championship match at WrestleMania 38.

Lesnar’s win in the Royal Rumble Match made him the fourth Superstar to win from the #30 spot, a position that is often considered advantageous due to its late entry into the match. It also made him the ninth two-time Royal Rumble winner, with his first win coming back in 2003.

However, recent revelations by former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle have shed some light on the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding Lesnar’s win. During a virtual signing with “Signed By Superstars,” Riddle claimed that he was originally supposed to win the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble Match. According to Riddle, the finish was changed because Lesnar demanded that he win the match.

Riddle stated, “I was told that I was going to win the Rumble and everything else, and then Bobby Lashley beat Brock Lesnar because somebody came in and hit him with the belt or what have you. Then Brock came in, didn’t want to do business with everybody, said he was winning, and then he won. Like, none of the producers, nobody stood up to him and they let him do it. I didn’t either.”

These claims by Riddle have sparked conflicting reports regarding the winner of the 2022 Royal Rumble Match. Pwinsider reported that Riddle was the frontrunner to win the match until a late change, while Randy Orton was also pitched as the potential winner. However, Lesnar was ultimately written in as the winner for at least two weeks before the event took place.

This revelation has brought attention to the power dynamics and decision-making processes within WWE. It raises questions about the influence of top Superstars like Lesnar and the extent to which they can dictate the outcomes of matches. It also highlights the lack of pushback from producers and others involved in the creative process.

As fans, it’s important to remember that professional wrestling is a blend of athleticism and scripted storytelling. While surprises and changes in plans are not uncommon, it’s interesting to get a glimpse behind the curtain and see how these decisions are made.
