Wrestler Grayson Waller does not believe that bringing WrestleMania to the United Kingdom would be a beneficial move for either performers or supporters, describing the concept as potentially “melancholic.”
In a conversation with The Daily Star, Waller broached the subject following remarks made by London Mayor Sadiq Khan – just re-elected for his trio of terms – expressing his aspirations to bring the iconic wrestling event to the capital of England. Waller shared his thoughts, maintaining:
“I’m not into politics, I usually don’t concern myself with government situations especially in foreign nations. I estimate that our friend was having some difficulties in his campaign, hence his efforts to promise anything for another term.”
“As per me, the thought of a London-based WrestleMania sounds unique, but it isn’t something I – or a lot of the performers, for that matter – would like to participate in. I’ve visited London before, and it creates a gloomy atmosphere. Consequently, a London-based WrestleMania would likely result in an incredibly somber occasion. That’s not what we need. The Mayor – Sadiq, yes? – I think your plans are misguided. Personally, I believe an Australian WrestleMania would be far superior!”
Despite Waller’s declarations, Khan managed to secure his third term as London Mayor without much difficulty, coming out ahead of Conservative candidate Susan Hall.
On the other hand, wrestler Triple H has indicated that an international move for WrestleMania might be feasible, contradicting plans made by WWE President, Nick Khan.
Nick Khan has allegedly announced that WWE’s most prominent four events – WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, and Survivor Series – are set to remain in North America in the upcoming future.
