On being brought in to the company: “WWE was looking for a midget. They were trying out midgets to be Finlay’s leprechaun and it just wasn’t happening. Then Ken [Mr. Kennedy] said to Fit [Finlay], he goes, ‘Hey, I got the guy. He’s good-hearted, he’s a good kid, he can take bumps.’ They tried me out in Green Bay actually. There was a SmackDown taping in Green Bay, they pulled me in the promo room to do promos with Fit, asked me to do an Irish accent I failed miserably.”

On signing with WWE: “I describe it as a full-out zero to hero transition. 19 turning 20. I was 19, I got hired three days before my 20th birthday, and I started on the road that week.”

Hornswoggle: From WWE Signing to Release

Hornswoggle, whose real name is Dylan Postl, is a professional wrestler who gained fame during his time in WWE. In a recent episode of Road Dogg’s podcast, “Oh… You Didn’t Know,” Hornswoggle shared some insights into his journey in the wrestling industry.

Hornswoggle joined WWE in 2006, but his signing was not a straightforward process. WWE was initially looking for a midget wrestler to be Finlay’s leprechaun character. However, their search did not yield the desired results. It was Ken Anderson, also known as Mr. Kennedy, who suggested Hornswoggle to Fit Finlay, the producer and agent for WWE. Anderson vouched for Hornswoggle, describing him as a good-hearted individual who could take bumps in the ring.

The tryout took place in Green Bay during a SmackDown taping. Hornswoggle was called into the promo room to do promos with Fit Finlay. However, when asked to do an Irish accent, Hornswoggle admitted that he failed miserably. Despite this setback, WWE saw potential in him and decided to give him a chance.

For Hornswoggle, signing with WWE marked a significant turning point in his life. At the age of 19, just three days before his 20th birthday, he received the life-changing news of his hiring. This sudden transition from an ordinary young man to a professional wrestler was nothing short of a zero to hero transformation.

Hornswoggle’s journey in WWE was filled with memorable moments. He became known for his mischievous and comedic character, often playing the role of a leprechaun or a sidekick to other wrestlers. His small stature didn’t hinder him from taking part in high-risk maneuvers and entertaining the audience with his unique style.

However, after a decade-long run with WWE, Hornswoggle’s contract was released on May 6, 2016. Despite his departure from the company, he continues to be remembered as a beloved figure in the wrestling community.
