The match was incredible from the very start, with both superstars going at it from the opening bell. Conti clearly came out looking to shock the champion, but Shida’s experience in these high-profile matches prevailed throughout the bout. Late in the contest, Shida closed the door on Conti by hitting an emphatic back-breaker and her signature kick for the decisive victory.

Following the win, Britt Baker’s music hit, and a graphic on the jumbotron revealed that she had been moved up to the #1 spot in the AEW Women’s division rankings. Shida wasn’t happy about the interruption, so she tossed her kendo stick at Baker. The new contender laughed it off and walked away with a sarcastic wave.
