Highs & Lows Of WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to yet another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

We’ve now concluded WWE Survivor Series 2024 (you can find the results here), and I’m curious to hear your thoughts and feelings on the event. What were your favourite and least favourite moments? Were there particular moments that stood out for being excellent or disappointing? What will you remember most from this event? And so on!

So, my question for you today is, “What are your impressions, both positive and negative, of WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024?”

Don’t forget, you can leave your responses in the comments section below.

Now, over to my own thoughts…

In many aspects, I found this event somewhat lackluster. It was as if not much had been accomplished in terms of story progression the WarGames matches lacked significance, a couple of titles remained unclaimed, and only one title changed hands – yet I remain skeptical about whether this change will bring anything promising. I’m specifically referring to Shinsuke Nakamura’s United States Championship win. This might be a topic for a future EWN QOTD.

A particular low point for me was the lack of essential things happening. While some storylines stayed static and The Rock didn’t show up, the most frustrating was the repetitiveness of Finn Balor interfering in Damian Priest’s World Heavyweight Championship match. This was a mirror image of what occurred in SummerSlam! The Priest-Balor feud ought to have faded before Survivor Series. There’s no excitement in watching the same story unfold in different events.

In terms of highlights, it would be tempting to say Rhea Ripley pinning Liv Morgan, given the odds of her winning the title from Morgan soon. But the actual highlight was the moment when CM Punk got Roman Reigns off the table, allowing for Bronson Reed to crash through with his Tsunami finisher. These bear significance not only for the shock value but also as a prelude to possible developments in the next year.

Despite the anticipation of the event, not much seemed to roll out of its progression. However, I’m optimistic that the Punk storyline could carry forward an intriguing plot, as it seemed to set the stage for future rivalry.

In finality, although the event seemed to lack substantial progression, I have hope for the continued storyline led by Punk. The reminder that WWE needs to be more thoughtful in when and how to use its gimmicks, as evidenced by the misuse of TLC and Hell in a Cell, is key to planning future events.
