Yesterday, we witnessed another thrilling edition of AEW WrestleDream 2024, filled with significant occurrences and standout fights. While some might assert that the show was flawless in its execution, others may have critiques or loopholes to highlight. Views will vary, but let’s dissect the best and the worst segments of the performance.
The crux of today’s debate is: “How would you categorize the high and low moments from AEW WrestleDream 2024 based on your perspective?”

Moving onto my take on it…
Observing the negatives primarily, I don’t think there were many. I wouldn’t categorize any element as notably inferior, but there were certain segments that didn’t match up to the standards of others or seemed a little insignificant.
Firstly, having Anna Jay versus Harley Cameron in the line-up felt unnecessary and merely seemed to fulfill the set quota of women’s matches. Leaving Mercedes Moné backstage didn’t sit well with me. The whole scenario seemed lacklustre.
The Swerve Strickland segment seemed redundant. His potent wrestling skills should have been utilized instead. The absence of an exciting reveal like Bobby Lashley made the segment feel less impactful. The letdown with Swerve’s lackluster response “no thanks” was a buzzkill.
Largely, nitpicking brought out these negatives. Similar criticism would apply to matchups like Hologram vs. The Beast Mortos which felt better suited for a TV episode or the Mark Briscoe and Chris Jericho feud which seemed unnecessary. Though far from being disastrous, these engagements didn’t spark any substantial energy or reactions. They felt like buffet filler dishes you’d skip in preference of exotic cuisines.
However, the highlights of the show were plentiful.
Chronologically, the lightning speed events following the TNT Championship come to mind. The surprising introduction of Daniel Garcia following the match between Jack Perry and Katsuyori Shibata, and then MJF and Adam Cole, was unexpected. I am eager to see if Undisputed Kingdom turns good post this event, and I’m thrilled to have the group back.
The AEW International Championship three-way battle was probably the best. Figures such as Ricochet, Will Ospreay, and Konosuke Takeshita assured a quality fight and they surely delivered. Kyle Fletcher’s betrayal was a good twist, and it was nice to see Takeshita finally clinching a title.
Despite my prediction, Jon Moxley’s victory against Bryan Danielson was a surprise. Adding to the shock was the post-match scene featuring Wheeler Yuta’s U-turn and series of unfortunate events leading to Danielson’s neck injury. This thrilling climax will undoubtedly draw fans to the Wednesday night episode.
Overall, I am keen to see how these stories progress, and I thought the wrestling was great. While I wish the pay-per-view was more affordable and shorter, this event rules with thumbs up.
