The American musician who dabbles predominantly in country music, HARDY, set the tone for this week’s WWE SmackDown episode by giving a warm welcome to the fans and introduced the comeback of AJ Styles.
On the Friday edition of WWE SmackDown, a much-anticipated face-off ensued between AJ Styles and Carmelo Hayes as the opening match. According to earlier reports from eWn, the match had to be halted owing to an unexpected “injury” sustained by Styles, also known as the Phenomenal One.
Initially, Styles showed up to address the audience, expressing regret over some of his past actions, notably those leading up to his match-up with Cody Rhodes during WWE Clash at the Castle. Hayes didn’t miss the chance to jeer at Styles, leading to the confirmation of a match.
Even though Hayes had initially refused to participate in the match, LA Knight stepped up and declared his support for Hayes by promising to lobby for him to get a chance at his US Championship, contingent on Hayes defeating Styles.
During an ad break, Styles was caught on camera receiving medical attention from WWE’s paramedical crew following what the sports commentators pointed out as a suspected ankle injury. Despite the fleeting continuance of the match, its subsequent termination came after Styles delivered a neckbreaker over his hurt leg, causing both fighters to collapse. Styles managed to limp out of the ring unassisted.
As for the severity of Styles’ injury, there is no official confirmation yet on whether it is genuine or not.
