Hangman Page Plans To Give Away Matt Hardy’s Money, Doesn’t Have To Join Dark Order To Have Their Backs
Hangman Page won big at AEW Revolution on Sunday, but he still has something to keep fighting for.
After he won the “Big Money Match” against Matt Hardy, Page took part in AEW’s post-show media scrum and talked about what it meant to him. Page was asked about what he’s going to do with the money, and he first joked about paying some bills and getting a new mower, but said he really would like to give it to someone who really needs it.
“I’m glad you asked about the money. That was my winnings tonight and I recently got the figures, it’s about what I expected. You know, honestly, I’m going to take a little bit of it and pay a little bit on the mortgage. I’m going to take a little—I’ve been in the market for a new lawnmower for quite a while. I’ve got a little electric one, I think it’s the batteries,” Page noted, “they’re just going bad but it’s not enough. So, I’ve got my eye on a Snapper, I’m going to save a little bit for that.”
“Honestly, coming here to Jacksonville and you go up and down the streets, you see people ‘camping’ on the side of the street. With the way this year’s been and kids out of school, people out of work, man,” Page explained, “I don’t need the money. I’m just [going to] give it to somebody who needs it. I don’t need it, I don’t think I want it, to be honest, and it’d give me something else to keep fighting for.”

Page was also asked if he is joining the Dark Order since they gave him an assist in the match, but he said he’s still a solo guy and they can have each other’s backs without being in the group.
“No. I think we’ve come to a mutual understanding. I did the group thing with Matt and Nick and Kenny, it didn’t work out well for me and I just don’t want that for myself again. I don’t want that for them again, but I don’t have to be a member of the Dark Order to have their back. Obviously you saw tonight that saw that I don’t have to be a member of the Dark Order for them to have my back, quite literally. I think maybe this is the way things are supposed to be.”

Hangman’s opponent, Matt Hardy, posted the following comments after the match, explaining to his wife that the major expansion plans for the Hardy compound will have to be put on hold:
I’m sorry, @RebyHardy .. Promise we’ll rebound from this small financial crash & be better than ever. Trust me, baby.
P.S. – If you could postpone the go-cart track & putt putt course we’re building for the boys on The Hardy Compound next month, I’d appreciate it.
Hardy also spoke with WrestleZone ahead of the PPV and talked about wrestling is giving rewarding payoffs to long-form storytelling, noting that AEW is presenting complex and subtle storylines. Hardy was asked if he’d agree with the analogy that stories can be simple enough for kids with details peppered in for adults, similar to some Disney movie humor and Hardy said it’s a fair assessment. He noted that kids will know who the good guys and bad guys are right away, but nuance is used correctly and you’re seeing it in his work with Page.
“I feel like kids who are watching, they’re gonna say, ‘This guy’s probably the bad guy, that guy’s the good guy, I wanna see my good guy win’, you know, kids aren’t going to get too thoroughly into it. They kinda want to understand a little bit of what’s going on,” Hardy said, “but I feel you can still tell these more complex stories that have nuance and have twists and turns in it.”
