We’ve learned that not only will the Women’s World Championship be decided during WWE’s Saturday Night Main Event, but the men’s World Heavyweight Championship is also up for contention. Gunther is expected to clash with The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor to retain his title.
This exciting outcome is a response to Balor’s disruptiveness during Gunther’s match at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024. He attacked Damian Priest, sabotaging his chance to reclaim the title Gunther stripped from him during WWE SummerSlam 2024. After the match, Balor approached Gunther, demanding a title crackdown – a request initially turned down, with Dominik Mysterio receiving the champs invite.
While Dirty Dom failed to secure the win, Balor used this opportunity to drive home his message by launching an attack on Gunther post-match. Raw’s General Manager, Adam Pearce, decided to grant Balor the match he yearned, scheduling it for the special event on December 14, 2024, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York.
Sorry Finn, no match for you.
