GUNTHER – ‘Ric Flair’s Strikes Were Largely Inefficient’

While the iconic pro wrestling chop is heavily associated with wrestling legend Ric Flair, this particular move doesn’t impress WWE’s GUNTHER.

GUNTHER, sharing a common move with Flair, has also integrated chops into his ring offense. He has significantly used the technique effectively both in his pre-WWE period and during his WWE stint.

On a recent episode of the “SHAK Wrestling” podcast, GUNTHER let his views be known about Flair’s chops when asked about his top four or Mt. Rushmore of wresting chops. He expressed,

“Kenta Kobashi. Next, I’ll nominate myself. Who’s the next one? Ric Flair was particularly famous for his chops. However, they were not really effective! He overused them quite a bit [laughs]. Lastly, I reckon, I’d nominate Hashimoto. He didn’t use the knife-edge chop to the chest, but used it on the neck, which I really admired.”

This weekend, GUNTHER plans to execute this exact move as he takes on the challenge of World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam 2024.

During the same interview, GUNTHER also enumerated on what it would imply for him to appear at the Bash in Berlin as the World Champion. To hear more about that, refer to the attached link.
