GUNTHER has continued to climb the ranks of Intercontinental Championship history after surpassing ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage to have the third-longest title reign.
The Austrian powerhouse captured the gold in June of last year, defeating Ricochet, and is the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of the 21st Century.
As the Wrestling Observer Newsletter pointed out this week, GUNTHER has now surpassed the Macho Man’s 414-day reign with the gold.
GUNTHER is mere weeks away from holding the record for the longest reign as Intercontinental Champion, a record currently held by the Honky Tonk Man.
Ahead of GUNTHER in the record books are Pedro Morales, who held the title for 424 days, and the Honky Tonk Man, who held the title for 453 days.
