At WWE SummerSlam 2024, scheduled for next month, GUNTHER is set to square off against Damian Priest in a bid for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
During a recent episode of “The Gorilla Position” podcast, GUNTHER opened up about his thoughts on competing against Priest for the title at this large summer wrestling event.
Remarks by GUNTHER on confronting Damian Priest: “I’m truly delighted. I’ve noticed that some people were questioning: ‘Why isn’t Seth [Rollins] pitted, why isn’t Drew participating, and Punk is also absent? However, these very people bemoan the lack of fresh stars and limit opportunities. I genuinely believe that competing with Priest in one of the biggest events of the company speaks volumes of the new direction management is taking. It is essential for them to promote new talent in significant roles and situations. Now, it’s on us to rise to the occasion and either meet or surpass the expectations.”
GUNTHER’s stance on the challenge represented by Priest: “I’m quite glad for the opportunity. As a performer, I see it as an even greater challenge than stepping in the ring with established names like Seth, Punk or Drew. I feel that Priest and I are on paths to solidify our statuses as household names, and I’m excited for this challenge.”
The WWE SummerSlam 2024 event will be held on Saturday, August 3, at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
