During a recent interaction with “The Ringer,” WWE superstar GUNTHER opened up about his journey in WWE and shared his early insecurities about being a part of the main roster.

GUNTHER is all set to compete against Damian Prest for the coveted WWE World Heavyweight Title in the upcoming WWE SummerSlam 2024 scheduled this weekend.

Here are a few noteworthy points from the one-on-one conversation:

Talking about his in-ring strategy, GUNTHER said, “The tactic changes according to the opponent. Take Bálor for instance, our size difference is palpable. Thus, it makes sense for me to use a sleeper hold and leverage my weight against him, rather than giving him the opportunity to demonstrate his athletic prowess and possibly counterattack. That’s typically how I approach my matches.”

Brought up the topic of his admiration for All Japan Pro Wrestling, he commented, “The sports-centric showcase of talent over there, it resonated with me. Icons like Kobashi, Kawada, Stan Hansen, Terry Gordy, and Gary Albright were my inspirations. I believe, if a seasoned wrestling fan watches my matches, they can connect the dots between their tactics and mine.”

Reflecting on his journey into the WWE main roster, GUNTHER confessed, “I never envisioned myself as a part of the main roster, fearing that I might not fit in. However, to my surprise, no one in WWE ever asked me to alter anything. No one can replicate what I bring to the table. I will not be that wrestler who changes his character frequently due to something not working out. Simply because, I am my own person.”
