Grayson Waller is hardly concerned by the fact he never became NXT Champion, even going as far as to say that he doesn’t need to hold a title.
In NXT, Waller tried multiple times to capture the NXT Championship but would routinely come up short against Bron Breakker and current champion Carmelo Hayes.
On “Out of Character,” the SmackDown Superstar addressed not joining the lineage of NXT Champions including Seth Rollins, Big E, Finn Balor, and Johnny Gargano. He said,
“I don’t put my value on a championship. I think some people need championships, I don’t think I do. You know, if you look back at my career some people might say I’ve been unsuccessful in ‘NXT’ but I would say the opposite.”
Waller added that he does plan on wearing gold in WWE, but has bigger aspirations than the NXT Championship. He said,
“When I think of Grayson Waller with a championship around his waist it ain’t gold, it ain’t an ‘NXT’ title, it’s a WWE title.”
Even without an NXT title reign, Waller has done well on the main roster, sharing the ring with the likes of John Cena and Edge, and has been teasing something with The Rock.
