All Elite Wrestling (AEW) President, Tony Khan, has divulged his interest in wrestling legend Bill Goldberg, after the expiry of the latter’s contract with WWE. This development followed Goldberg’s earlier declaration of indifference towards AEW, which he considered cheesy, along with his refusal to be a part of Khan’s organization.

In a recent episode of the podcast “Insight”, Goldberg drew parallels between Khan and ex-TNA president, Dixie Carter. During this discussion, he admitted to conceiving an idea to be part of fellow wrestler Sting’s farewell tour in AEW.

Further highlights can be gathered from the podcast:

On his perception of AEW, Goldberg maintained: “Our viewpoints on the matter differ … It’s a challenge for me to make remarks on their production because I haven’t been following it closely. I see glimpses of it from time to time. Precisely assessing their setup is impossible without an in-depth view. Thus, I am not well informed … He bears resemblance to Dixie Carter, except in a male form. I cannot categorize this similarity as good or bad. But he channels that aura. It’s simply a different vibe. It’s different.”

As to the question of a possible move to AEW and his conception for Sting’s retirement, Goldberg disclosed: “No, I never nearly clinched a deal with him. The transition seemed more viable once Sting was included. That’s why …. I approached Sting because I wanted to contribute. In my mind, we could pull off a farewell reunion at some stage. But the spotlight would always be on Sting, not me. My aim was never to steal his thunder. It could have been an impressive culmination, but I didn’t want to be the center of attraction. Therefore, the timing was skew-whiff.”
