WWE Hall of Famer, Bill Goldberg recently shared his views about his relationship with Vince McMahon, the former WWE Chairman, on ‘The Ariel Helwani Show.’
Goldberg highlighted that his association with McMahon was always filled with mutual respect and understanding.
Here are a few highlights from his conversation during the podcast:
When questioned if he ever anticipated a time when Vince McMahon wouldn’t command WWE, Goldberg responded, “No, no. Not at all. I’d never anticipate such a situation. Whatever took him away from that role must’ve been serious. I would rather not delve into it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, yet I don’t typically vocalize mine. You should base all assessments on facts.”
Speaking about how he was treated by McMahon, Goldberg said, “Vince always exhibited immense kindness towards me. The only regret was not getting my retirement match since he wasn’t part of the entity anymore. There were people who were ‘Vince’s guys’ and others who were not, and I’d like to think that I was a ‘Vince’s guy’.”
Further illuminating how McMahon revered him, Goldberg added, “The basic principle is that you treat people the way you wish to be treated, and Vince always respected me. Hence, I did my best to reciprocate. If anyone is expecting any negative comments from me about Vince and that scenario, I have none. I never expected a day would come when Vince wouldn’t be at the helm.”
