Wrestling Observer Newsletter disclosed today details surrounding the WWE ID program’s collaboration with independent promotions. Brett Lauderdale of GCW, an independent promoter, has publicly expressed his reservations about the process.
Per the newsletter, the operational logistics follow a distinct pattern when a WWE ID talent is engaged to work for a particular promotion. The contractual agreement stipulates the match organization is Gabe Sapolsky’s responsibility. Subsequently, he delivers the script to the promoter, who is then responsible for remunerating the talent.
The program also includes clauses that enable the promoter to publicize the talent’s affiliation with WWE. In addition, WWE assumes the travel expenses by providing a specific stipend. The promoter, on the other hand, is responsible for covering any additional costs that may exceed the given stipend.
However, Brett Lauderdale has taken to social media to shed light on his experiences with the WWE ID program and possibly debunk these assertions.
On his Twitter, he shared: “My experience with WWE ID: 1. Gabe doesn’t put the matches together 2. I’ve never seen or heard of a script 3. We are “allowed” to push “WWE ID” on talent announcements (but we don’t) 4. Not aware of any travel stipend or travel share but that would be cool!”
