“Basically, I hadn’t wrestled for five years. Things happen. I feel like I’m around it so much that maybe I didn’t get in enough practice, maybe, I don’t know. Things of freakish nature happen all the time. My leg got pulled, my body rotated, and it just happens. I don’t think anybody knew until some video got released on social media the next day because I woke up to maybe twelve people sending me the video.”

“I was definitely in auto-pilot mode at that point, for sure. We do have that. I didn’t know what was going on, I just knew I got the wind knocked out of me, as far as I knew, and I just kept on going.” she said.

Gail Kim Reflects on Concussion During TNA’s 1000th Episode

The episode featured a match that showcased some of the top female wrestlers in the industry, including Gail Kim, Awesome Kong, Jordynne Grace, Mickie James, and Trinity.

However, the match took an unfortunate turn when Gail Kim suffered a concussion. Velvet Sky interfered in the match and caused Kim to hit her head on the concrete floor after pulling her off the apron. In a recent interview with Ring The Belle, Gail Kim opened up about the incident and reflected on her concussion.

Kim admitted that it was her first match since 2019 and that accidents can happen in wrestling. She mentioned that being around the sport so much might have made her feel like she didn’t need as much practice, but she acknowledged that freakish accidents can occur at any time. In this case, her leg got pulled, her body rotated, and she ended up hitting her head.

The former TNA Knockouts Champion revealed that she wasn’t aware of the severity of the injury until she saw a video of the incident on social media the next day. She received numerous messages from concerned fans and friends who had seen the video. Despite the concussion, Kim continued to wrestle in auto-pilot mode, not fully realizing what was happening but pushing through the match.

Concussions are a serious concern in professional wrestling and all contact sports. They can have long-term effects on an athlete’s health and well-being. It is crucial for wrestlers and promotions to prioritize safety and take necessary precautions to prevent such injuries.

Gail Kim’s experience serves as a reminder of the risks involved in professional wrestling and the importance of proper training and preparation. Wrestlers put their bodies on the line every time they step into the ring, and accidents can happen even to the most experienced performers.
