Gail Kim had a long and distinguished in-ring career, but her work was inspired by another female wrestling legend. During a recent interview with Lucha Libre Online, Kim spoke about what an influence Molly Holly was, and how it inspired her when she first started wrestling.
Kim stated: “Once I saw the women wrestling, I would say Molly Holly is the one really — I was just like, ‘Wow, I just love the way you move in the ring.’ I just admired her so much. She moved with this grace that I had never seen from a female before. So I became kind of obsessed, and someone I trained with worked with her in WWF at the time. He introduced me to her, and she couldn’t have been nicer.”
Kim is a former WWE Women’s Champion and a former Impact Knockouts Champion. She worked on the Canadian independent scene before joining WWE in 2002. Kim was the first female performer to be named to Impact’s Hall of Fame. She retired from in-ring competition in 2019.
