Gable Steveson’s Immediate WWE Future Remains Uncertain

Gable Steveson’s WWE in-ring debut at this Sunday’s NXT Great American Bash pay-per-view event against Baron Corbin indicates his potential commitment to WWE, but his previous plans to use his last year of NCAA eligibility for competition raise some uncertainties. The Tokyo 2020 Gold Medallist had reportedly expressed his desire to win a third NCAA title and participate in the upcoming Paris Olympics, pending necessary clearances.
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is uncertain about Steveson’s participation in the World Championships, and even Steveson himself remains unsure. As he currently holds a contract with WWE, a decision must be reached soon. Steveson recently won the NCAA Championships and Final X over Mason Parris, showcasing his ongoing involvement at the amateur level. The 2023 World Wrestling Championships are scheduled from September 16 to 24 in Belgrade, Serbia.
