There’s an Olympic Gold Medalist backstage at WWE SummerSlam tonight, but this time it’s Gable Steveson and not Kurt Angle. Stevenson hopped on social media to share a photo of himself with Triple H in front of a SummerSlam backdrop.

Excited to be at #SummerSlam tonight.. Going to be legendary time! 👀

Since winning the gold medal at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Stevenson has been teasing fans with questioning what his next move should be. Those Tweets included a potential career in MMA and in WWE. Not only that, but Stevenson was at Bellator’s Friday night event as well. AEW star and “rock hard” member of The Inner Circle, Jake Hager even chirped at the Olympian on Twitter which in turn caused a seemingly contentious discourse between the two.

“I bet $20,000 that Gable Steveson could not take me down. Any Takers?” Hager Tweeted on August 12. Steveson replied, stating he could take Hager down in five seconds.

If u wanna lose 20k in 5 seconds then let’s go

Current WWE Champion Bobby Lashley recently said he sees plenty of potential in Steveson in a WWE squared circle.

“I’m not trying to pull him this way because he is young, he is 21 years old, he can go fight if he wants to and get that out of his system, or that might be his calling. Or he could come to WWE, but I’ll tell you this—if he does come to WWE, the smart choice would be to give me a call, and maybe we can bring him into The Hurt Business and help out his career.”
