Gable Steveson On His WWE Release – ‘I’m Not Sure. We’ll Just Leave It As Everything’s All Good’

Olympic Gold medalist, Gable Steveson, bid adieu to WWE in May this year, marking the end of his three-year association with the wrestling company.

Steveson, recently, opined about his journey with the company and the present dynamics between him and the WWE on “The Ariel Helwani Show.”

Here are some important takeaways from the session:

Reflecting on his departure from WWE: “My journey with WWE initially began on a promising note. Despite the harmonious relationship, I couldn’t juggle between pursuing wrestling and fulfilling my commitments with WWE. Following my pact with WWE, I attempted to return to wrestling, but the constant switching failed. It was a matter of priorities – I chose wrestling over WWE, which had different plans. Nevertheless, it wasn’t bitter; I recently met Paul Levesque, Triple H, at a UFC event and had a polite conversation with him. Everything went well upon encountering him and Stephanie backstage. They were aware of my decision and deemed it a hurdle to tackle but there’s no animosity from my side.”

Talking about his realization regarding WWE’s suitability- “I can’t pinpoint the exact moment. But, what I can emphasize is that there’s no bad blood or grudges holding. I’m open to future engagements if I can give my hundred percent to it. Every decision involves a risk, and some don’t pay off, like this one didn’t. But no regrets, I maintain neutrality. Hopefully, time will see us working again.”

Concerning the surprise element of his release- ” I refrained from commenting on my release at the time because there weren’t any negative vibes. The understanding is mutual. My conversations with Vince [McMahon], Nick Khan, and Triple H, which began in 2021, were always cordial. Considering the setback as a humbling learning experience, I choose to move forward. To harbor resentment is indicative of an issue, which is non-existent in my case.”
