The NJPW G1 Climax 33 tournament has reached its climactic stage, with the final four competitors determined.
Tetsuya Naito, Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, and EVIL have successfully advanced to the penultimate stage of the NJPW G1 Climax 33 tournament.
Naito, who secured the top spot in D Block, overcame Hikuleo, who held the second position in A Block, solidifying his path to the semifinals.
In another quarterfinal clash, Will Ospreay, the runner-up in B Block, emerged victorious against David Finlay, who led in C Block, setting up his spot in the semifinals.
A stunning upset transpired when SANADA, dominating in A Block and reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, suffered his first defeat of the tournament at the hands of EVIL, the second-placed contender in C Block. This marked a remarkable reversal for SANADA, who had maintained an unblemished record during the round-robin matches.
Completing the quartet, Kazuchika Okada, the leader of B Block, triumphed over Zack Sabre Jr, who held the second position in D Block, sealing his advancement to the next phase and keeping hopes alive of a third straight G1 Climax victory.
The upcoming semifinals on August 12 will witness EVIL clashing with Okada, while Ospreay is set to go head-to-head with Naito. The highly anticipated culmination of the tournament is scheduled for August 13, when the victor of the NJPW G1 Climax 33 tournament will be determined.
