FX is currently in the process of developing a comedy series that centers around the realm of professional wrestling. This was reported by Fightful Select who revealed that the proposed half-hour comedy series, which will be based in the world of indie wrestling in Los Angeles, has been purchased by the network.
The series is being likened to a mix of “Dazed and Confused” and “The Wrestler”. Additionally, it has been revealed that wrestler Luke Hawx, known for his role as Stone Cold Steve Austin in the series “Young Rock”, is part of this project. The series has set its sights on casting actual wrestlers and will take place in the current era.
Also, writer Adair Cole is said to be working on the show. Drafting a statement, Cole said, “I’m thrilled to be developing a show set in the vibrant universe of independent wrestling. Ever since I was 15 years old, I have been taking my friends to indie wrestling events. I was one of 12 people in a garage the night Samoa Joe made his debut. It is a universe that resonates with me and I have a profound connection with it. Regrettably, I cannot give any insights on where this show will stand or who our partners may be, but I can promise to keep Fightful in the loop as events unfold. Meanwhile, I will personally be at Epic Pro Wrestling on June 2nd, and GCW Hit Em Up on June 15th, eager to connect with people who share my passion.”
The not-yet-named series is currently under development and is scheduled to be launched on FX in the foreseeable future.
