Jon Moxley’s own father became a primary subject in his promo this week on AEW Dynamite, but the whole 2:00 minute moment became a complete family affair as he casually revealed to the world that he too is soon to become a father.

Dave Meltzer gave a little more color to the details behind “Good Guy” Moxley’s decision to reveal that his wife, Renee Paquette is pregnant. According to Meltzer in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Renee (who has been expecting for quite some time now) was aiming to announce it publicly, but Mox was of the mindset that personal news was no one’s business. However, he did realize that since both he and Paquette are both public figures, that just wouldn’t work out logically. Moxley was introduced to how celebrities had handled news like this before on social media, but was disgusted by the pomp and circumstance of it all. Then at 2 in the morning the night before the show, Moxley became inspired to do a promo about his father and the 100% real situation in which his pops picked him up from the police station. He figured out a way to incorporate the announcement and told Renee about it back home, letting her know that her phone would be exploding that evening.

Renee’s pregnancy announcement did receive a bit of a hiccup initially as she accidentally texted Bayley instead of Mox about the bun in the oven.
