Full Card For NJPW Resurgence, Brody King Removed Due To “Unforseen Circumstances”

New Japan Pro Wrestling returns to the United States tonight for NJPW Resurgence. The show will be taking place at The Torch at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and will be headlined by two title matches. It will be NJPW’s first live event with fans in North America since The New Beginning in USA show in Atlanta, GA on Feb. 1st, 2020.

In the main event, IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Lance Archer will defend his title against company ace Hiroshi Tanahashi. It will be Archer’s 2nd defense since ending Jon Moxley’s historic 564-day reign on July 21st. Archer has since defeated Bullet Club’s Hikuleo.

In the co-main event title bout, NEVER Openweight Champion Jay White will defend the title against his oldest rival, David Finlay. A vendetta that extends all the way back to the two men’s time in the NJPW dojo, the two have been squabbling throughout recent episodes of IMPACT Wrestling, and will end another chapter tonight in Los Angeles. It will be White’s first defense of the title since defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi for it on May 3rd.

Another marquee match will see The Good Brothers celebrate their recent Tag Team Turbulence tournament win by beating up Jon Moxley, and a partner of Moxley’s choosing. Moxley has promised a surprise drinking buddy for the tag match. While many are hoping for former-Young Lion Shota Umino, but travel restrictions have kept him in the United Kingdom for the time being. So the question remains: who will Moxley’s partner be?

One person missing the event will be NJPW Strong staple Brody King. NJPW announced that Brody King will not be competing at Resurgence due to “unforseen circumstances.” He has been replaced in the 10-man tag match with Adrian Quest, who was originally scheduled for a dark match. Jordan Clearwater will replace Quest in the dark match.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Brody King will be unable to compete at Resurgence.

We apologize to fans looking forward to seeing Brody wrestle, and appreciate your understanding.
