Fuego Del Sol Thought His First AEW Win Would Be His Last, Hopes To Sign With The Company Soon

Fuego Del Sol still doesn’t have a contract with All Elite Wrestling, but he hopes to earn one sooner rather than later.
During an appearance on the World Class Cast, Fuego explained that he’s a free agent, so while WWE and other companies could come calling, he would prefer to sign with AEW.
” I’m unsigned, so if WWE offered me something, I’d have to take that into consideration,” said Fuego. “But the goal right now is to get signed by AEW, it’s not to go get signed by WWE.”
Fuego then reflected on his first win with AEW, which came after he endured a lengthy losing streak dating back to his AEW debut last May. But he also revealed that, at the time, he thought his first win with AEW would be his last.
“I felt like it was the perfect send-off,” said Fuego. “I thought that was it for me, I thought that was my last match. Hey, I got my big win in AEW, now I can use this momentum to go off, do big stuff on the indies. Out of nowhere, Cody [Rhodes] was like no, you’re coming back to Miami next week. I was almost mad, I almost didn’t want to go because I’m hanging around somewhere that doesn’t want me here.
“They did enough for me, they sent me off in the right direction, why is Cody making me come to the show? I get there, I’m wrestling Matt Hardy, and the crowd goes bananas for me. and it’s one of my favorite nights of my career. And I didn’t want to even show up. That’s how stupid I was about this whole situation.”
If, or when, he does get signed, Fuego hopes to earn a title shot at some point, but he’s entirely focused on securing a contract right now.
“The main goal right now is just to get the job, I can’t even focus on the title,” said Fuego. “Put a couple wins together, get in the rankings, move up the rankings and earn a title shot.”
