FTR faced Ortiz & Santana faced off at the special “Fight for the Fallen” episode of AEW Dynamite. In a huge win, FTR came out on top to pick up the victory over their bitter rivals.
In a match that started with some intense grappling back-and-forth between Cash Wheeler and Ortiz, the Inner Circle members seemed to gain some momentum early on. Santana and his partner utilized their teamwork well, as they ganged up on Wheeler to maintain the advantage. Eventually, FTR took control and displayed the chemistry that took them to the very top of AEW’s tag team division.
Toward the end of the match, Wheeler hit Ortiz with a nasty tornado DDT, taking him out of the match for a bit and forcing Santana to step in and kick Wheeler in the head. He quickly followed thatup with a big powerbomb to Dax Harwood for a near fall. After Harwood officially tagged in, he attempted to set Santana up on the ring for a Cash Wheeler bomb off the top rope, but Santana shot to his feet and took Wheeler down. Wheeler hit the ring post, and he cut his arm badly, so medical officials tended to him.
Wheeler’s injury might have forced the competitors to end the match sooner than expected. Wheeler continued to fight it out with Santana and took him out with a superplex. He promptly hit a brainbuster on Ortiz for the victory, and the win should propel FTR back up the rankings.
