Fred ‘Shockmaster’ Ottman Jokes His Stormtrooper Helmet Is Possessed

Fred Ottman is able to look back and laugh at his infamous debut as The Shockmaster that has lived on in wrestling history.

Ottman, who also competed as Tugboat, debuted The Shockmaster during a backstage segment at WCW’s Clash of the Champions XXIV, and fell through a breakable wall and fell on his face.

Speaking with “Busted Open Radio,” Ottman says he has made peace with the character’s unfortunate debut and gets a kick out of meeting fans. He said,

“I have the original helmet at the shows with me, and I have them [the fans] love it. I talk them into it, you know, I say it is possessed. You know, if you get too close to it, it’s going to put me on.’” 

Ottman recalled a fan from Japan traveling to a convention in full Shockmaster garb, complete with a foldable wall, which the wrestling legend found very cool.
