In a recent feature on the “Casual Conversations” podcast, professional wrestler Ricochet looked back on his match with competitor Will Ospreay, which was fought on AEW Dynamite, concluding in a draw. The pair are set to face off once more in Continental Classic, promising a clear victor this time around. Reflecting on their previous encounter, Ricochet stated, “Absolutely. I think so, especially because I just got here. I literally just got here. So this is just the beginning. This was just supposed to be a taste of what will come later. Again, now we’re in the Continental Classic, we’re in the same block, so now we’re gonna have another match, and we’re gonna have to have a definitive winner this time. I think that’s something he and I both were looking for last time was a definitive winner, but it got messed up, and then in the Triple Threat match, we still didn’t get our [decisive winner]. I do feel though we met our own expectations, and we continue to exceed our own expectations.”

After the match, on the “Barstool Rasslin’” podcast, Ricochet expressed his interest in facing opponents including Swerve Strickland, Bryan Danielson, and MJF in the coming year. Alongside Will Ospreay and Konosuke Takeshita, Ricochet has faced a number of well-known AEW wrestlers, leading to the question of who he would like to face in 2025, to which he replied “I think Swerve is in the contest. Swerve and I, we’ve locked up a bunch of times but not in years. We’ve both evolved as performers, he’s amazing, so Swerve is definitely in that conversation. Honestly, I feel like MJF is in that conversation. Real trash human being, but that’s why I need to get in there and smack him in the mouth a little bit. I don’t know how long he’s going to be doing it, but I feel like Bryan Danielson is somebody who I’ve never got to really get in the trenches with but he’s somebody who I feel like we would have a banger.”

During an interview on “1035 KISSFM,” Ricochet made the controversial claim that “if there wasn’t Ricochet, there wouldn’t be AEW.” Reflecting on his role in AEW he said, “Absolutely. I’m not saying I’m the sole reason. I’m just saying. If there wasn’t Ricochet, there wouldn’t be AEW. I’m not saying I’m the sole reason that it happened, but I am saying, what I have done with Ospreay, with PAC, with AR Fox, with Dragon Gate, with PWG, with everything. Overseas. New Japan. Everything I’ve done in my past career helped set up a world where AEW can exist.” He further added clarification that he did not believe he alone created the platform for AEW, citing other influential figures in wrestling, like Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and naturally, Ospreay. Ricochet stated, “I’m not saying it’s just me. It’s me, it’s the Young Bucks. It’s Kenny Omega. It’s Ospreay. It’s everybody. I’m just saying, without Ricochet, there would be no Ospreay, really. You know what I’m saying? All of us guys are passionate and without that there would be no AEW.”
