Stephon Smith is one of 13 WWE NXT talents that were released last Friday night during WWE SmackDown. The shockwaves are still being felt throughout the wrestling industry as the WWE Universe tries to figure out what’s next for the black and gold brand.

On Thursday, former WWE NXT referee Stephon Smith broke his silence on social media regarding his release last week and confirmed he’s ready to continue his career path as a referee in professional wrestling:

“I’ve had some time to reflect and I want to say I feel great and I’m in a positive mindset. I’ve double down on my time in the gym and I’m 100% ready to continue my path as a referee. I’d like to thank Triple H, Scott Armstrong, and everyone at NXT for being a pleasure to work with and for providing me with skills and opportunities that go beyond refereeing,” Stephon Smith said in a tweet.

Smith also confirmed his 30-day non-compete with WWE expires on September 9.
