Tony Khan would be wise to hire Jinder Mahal once the former WWE Champion is free of his non-compete clause, according to Eric Bischoff.
Mahal was among those released from WWE earlier this month as part of the first wave of talent cuts under the ‘new era’ of the company.
On a recent edition of his “83 Weeks” podcast, Bischoff urged Khan to hire Mahal and capitalize on their ‘feud’ from earlier this year. He said,
“If I was Tony Khan and if Jinder is available… I’d hire him so fast. Going back to the comments that Tony made about Jinder, that started a whole thing. I mean, it sort of [set] the internet on fire for about three days, four days. It was awesome, it was fun to watch. People are nuts, man. People are nuts on Twitter, and I’m here for it all. It’s the most entertaining thing for me to sit down and watch some of these people go crazy.”
He continued, “But I would take advantage of that. Take advantage of the fact, Tony, that you stirred up a bunch of s**t by throwing a grenade, so to speak. It wasn’t a grenade, it was a firecracker. A tiny little firecracker which didn’t even make much noise. But boy, did people react to it. Now you get kind of a built-in — I don’t know, at least an incident to start from. Something, a spark of an idea, to do something fun. Have Jinder come in, Tony, and make you fear for your life. No, seriously! Okay, I’m having a little fun with it with the ‘fear for your life’ s**t. But I’m actually serious about, you know, ‘Why not?’”
After Mahal was booked into a World Heavyweight Championship match earlier this year, Khan fired off a series of tweets in which he criticized the idea of his push.
Mahal recently said he is grateful that Khan’s comments against him went viral as it added intrigue to his match with then-Champion Seth Rollins.
Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal’s recent release from the company has sparked interest in the wrestling world, with industry veteran Eric Bischoff suggesting that Tony Khan, the CEO of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), should consider hiring Mahal once his non-compete clause expires.
Mahal was among the talents released by WWE as part of their recent wave of cuts. This move came as a surprise to many, considering Mahal’s previous push and his status as a former WWE Champion. Now, Bischoff believes that AEW could benefit from signing Mahal and capitalizing on the “feud” between Khan and Mahal that unfolded earlier this year.
During a recent episode of his “83 Weeks” podcast, Bischoff expressed his opinion, stating, “If I was Tony Khan and if Jinder is available… I’d hire him so fast.” He also highlighted the buzz that Khan’s comments about Mahal generated on social media, stating, “It sort of [set] the internet on fire for about three days, four days. It was awesome, it was fun to watch.”
Bischoff further emphasized the potential for storytelling and entertainment value that could come from this signing. He encouraged Khan to take advantage of the controversy and attention surrounding their previous interactions, suggesting that AEW could use it as a starting point for an exciting storyline. Bischoff even playfully suggested that Mahal could make Khan “fear for his life,” although he clarified that he was joking.
Khan had previously criticized Mahal’s push in a series of tweets after Mahal was booked into a World Heavyweight Championship match earlier this year. However, Mahal recently expressed gratitude for Khan’s comments, as they added intrigue and interest to his match against then-Champion Seth Rollins.
As wrestling fans eagerly await Mahal’s next move, the possibility of him joining AEW and reigniting his feud with Khan has become a topic of discussion. Only time will tell if Tony Khan takes Bischoff’s advice and brings Jinder Mahal into the AEW fold, but it certainly seems like a move that could generate excitement and intrigue within the wrestling community.
