Irish wrestling superstar Finn Balor has experienced both triumphs and trials in his career, and he recently revealed that the darkest period occurred during his 2022 stint with the WWE roster.

Dishing about his WWE journey on a recent episode of the “What’s the Story” podcast, Balor, for the first time ever, disclosed what he considers his professional nadir. He revealed,

“I haven’t spoken about this in public before. The two months leading up to my heel transformation were probably the worst I’ve ever felt in my career concerning personal investment. I found myself merely going through the motions, constantly asking, ‘Who am I supposed to lose to today?’ It felt like a monotonous routine. I was delivering the same performance time and again, and I knew I had much more to offer.”

June 2022 marked a pivotal change for Balor when he took a heel turn for the first time in WWE’s main roster, aligning with The Judgment Day. This event also led to the ousting of Edge as the faction’s leader.

In the two months leading up to this turning point, Balor had been at odds with the faction and surrendered the WWE United States Championship to Austin Theory.

As of now, Balor is enjoying his third reign as WWE World Tag Team Champion. He previously held the titles twice alongside Damian Priest, and is presently reigning champion with JD McDonagh.
