eWrestlingNews (eWn) reported earlier this week that Hulk Hogan stirred controversy at a promotional event for his Real American Beer brand in Medina, Ohio. The wrestling icon made comments about Kamala Harris, asking “Is Kamala a chameleon? Is she Indian?” He also mockingly used “háu,” a Native American greeting.
ABC News 5 later reported that a woman was injured at this event when she was struck by a thrown beer can and knocked to the floor. Although several witnesses named Hogan as the thrower, others said a crew member pitched beers from stage like a baseball player. With these conflicting accounts, no charges or arrests were made. However, the woman required nine stitches.
Hogan clarified his comments about Harris’ heritage by saying he should slam the Vice Presidential nominee or “drop the leg” on her, a suggestion that garnered approval from the crowd. He further referred to Harris as a “chameleon” because of her Indian and Jamaican roots. However, he retracted his comments, attributing them to his state of intoxication.
Hogan has openly supported Donald Trump and has faced his own share of controversy in the past. In 2015, he was dismissed from WWE due to racist remarks he made. There were also allegations that he ended a contract with a brand ambassador for his beer brand because she was a black woman, a claim denied by Real American Beer.
The WWE Hall of Famer last appeared for WWE in January this year to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Hulkamania’s ‘birth’ with his 1984 WWWF title win.
