You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On the danger of becoming a big star in wrestling: “You gotta realize, [if] someone aims a TV camera at you and makes you bigger than life, but you gotta be careful not to believe that stuff. You’re just a man, but everyone wants to be your friend. You can have anything. And just wanting it, someone will find out and give it to you.”

On how he viewed wrestling as a business to provide for his family: “I just wanted a check because I was buying commercial and residential real estate throughout all that, so I had a little something else to go to and Kerry didn’t have that. I had my family — a loving family.”

Marshall Von Erich on his favorite match: “[My favorite match] would be the Briscoe Brothers for Ric Flair’s retirement show. We got to wrestle them, and that was by far my favorite. Meeting two brothers that were just as close was super, super cool, and just the kind of guys they were in general.”

Ross Von Erich on working with The Briscoes: “We only had a few words spoken before [with the Briscoes], and we had a bunch of uncertainty like, ‘How is this going to go?’ But they’re professionals. We made it work, and it was awesome. They just had so much chemistry, and working together with them, I’m never going to forget it.”

The Briscoes defeated The Von Erichs at the event, which was held in July 2022. Jay Briscoe sadly passed away earlier this year in a car accident.

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Von Erich’s life and career are documented in the new biopic, The Iron Claw, which is currently playing in theaters nationwide. Kevin Von Erich is portrayed by Zac Efron in the movie.

In a recent episode of the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Von Erich opened up about the potential risks of achieving stardom in the professional wrestling industry. Kevin’s sons, Ross and Marshall, also joined the conversation and shared their experiences in the wrestling world.

One of the main points discussed was the danger of becoming a big star in wrestling. Kevin emphasized the importance of not letting fame and success get to one’s head. He warned that when someone is portrayed as larger than life on television, it can be easy to believe the hype and lose touch with reality. People start treating you differently, everyone wants to be your friend, and you can have anything you desire. However, Kevin advised wrestlers to be cautious and not let these external factors define their self-worth.

Kevin also shared his perspective on wrestling as a business. He revealed that his primary goal was to provide for his family, which is why he focused on earning a paycheck. He mentioned that he invested in commercial and residential real estate alongside his wrestling career, which provided him with financial stability. This allowed him to have something to fall back on, unlike his brother Kerry Von Erich, who didn’t have the same financial security.

Marshall Von Erich chimed in and talked about his favorite match, which was against The Briscoe Brothers at Ric Flair’s retirement show. He expressed his admiration for the Briscoe Brothers and how they were just as close as he and his brother were. Marshall found it incredibly cool to meet two brothers who shared such a strong bond. The match was a memorable experience for him.

Ross Von Erich also shared his thoughts on working with The Briscoe Brothers. He admitted that there was some uncertainty before the match, as they hadn’t interacted much with the Briscoes before. However, he praised their professionalism and chemistry in the ring. Ross mentioned that the experience of working with them was unforgettable.

Unfortunately, The Briscoes defeated The Von Erichs at the event, which took place in July 2022. Tragically, Jay Briscoe passed away earlier this year in a car accident, adding a somber note to their encounter.

In addition to their wrestling careers, the Von Erich family’s story is being portrayed in a new biopic called “The Iron Claw.” The movie is currently playing in theaters nationwide, with Kevin Von Erich being portrayed by Zac Efron.
