The WWE’s Japanese house show run from July 25 to July 27 led to the episode of Friday Night SmackDown on July 26 being taped a week in advance in Omaha, Nebraska.

However, the airing of SmackDown didn’t adhere to the sequence it was filmed in. The primary bout, featuring Tiffany Stratton and Nia Jax against Bayley and Michin was captured prior to the Tag Team Gauntlet match.

According to reports by Fightful, the Tag Team Gauntlet contest was initially intended to be the main event on SmackDown but was recorded earlier. WWE opted to record the segments out of order to enhance the filming process’s efficiency and hasten the travel schedules, considering the taping format allowed for altering the sequencing.

In a report given, it was stated, “Michin and Bayley vs. Nia Jax and Tiffany was listed as the final segment for SmackDown and it aired in that manner. However, it was in fact taped before the tag team turmoil match. When people were asked about this arrangement, it was deduced as ‘A strategy to disperse the crowd a bit earlier.’ Given its pre-recorded nature, it wasn’t deemed important to strictly adhere to the planned sequence.”

The Tag Team Gauntlet match’s result saw The Bloodline (Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga) triumph to bag a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships, held by DIY, at SummerSlam 2024.
