The first-ever AEW World Champion, Chris Jericho, unabashedly attributes the inspiration behind MJF’s captivating promos to his own mike skills.
In a recent episode of his podcast “Talk Is Jericho”, Jericho revisited his debut WWE promo with The Rock. He cheekily noted the striking similarities with MJF’s style of delivery, stating:
“It’s glaring that there’s a lot of MJF in this promo. He may not openly admit to being influenced by me, but it’s pretty apparent that he is [laughs]. Watching this feels like witnessing a contemporary MJF promo in action.”
Jericho’s entry into WWE transpired with him interrupting The Rock mid-talk, labeling him and the entire organization as dull, while projecting himself as the ultimate source of entertainment.
His second memoir, ‘Undisputed: How to Become the World Champion in 1,372 Easy Steps,’ reveals that his debut promo elicited a less than favorable response backstage.
Currently, in his premier reign as the FTW Champion, Jericho is scheduled to defend the title against HOOK in the upcoming AEW All In: London 2024 later this month.
