Ethan Page, the current NXT Champion, is set to defend his title against Trick Williams in the premiere episode of WWE NXT on The CW Network. This event, scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, will feature renowned wrestler CM Punk as the special guest referee, and it will be hosted at Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
During his recent appearance on the “Insight” podcast, Page opened up about his journey, including holding the NXT Title, his transition from AEW to WWE, his dream opponent, among other subjects.
Highlighting his remarkable rapid rise, Page claimed, “I suppose it’s a record, quick to championship. Vic Joseph brought to my attention that I’ve had the most main events repeatedly in the shortest period. I’m amidst a truly brilliant run at the moment.”
Discussing his deal with WWE, Page shared an interesting story recounting, “I was taking multiple independent bookings, wagering on my own skills, hoping for a revival in Ethan Page’s storyline. After a string of almost seventy confirmed shows for the remaining part of 2024, I received a call from WWE executive, offering me a contract. Initially, I was in disbelief, thinking it was a prank. But a subsequent call confirmed the fact, and I was ecstatic at the prospect of working for the WWE.”
Page also voiced his feelings on being teased by Joe Hendry. He affirmed, “I told Joe to churn out any material he wished for his video as long as it didn’t involve my kids. When he played the innocuous video featuring me in a Bowser costume, I took it sportingly. After all, my daughter filmed it, and now, at just six years of age, she’s a published photographer and a worldwide videographer.”
When asked about his dream match in WWE, Page was quick to respond, “It would surely be with Randy Orton. In the last two decades, he’s one of the best in the game. He’s a yardstick of success in wrestling. However, on top of my list will always be The Rock.”
