In a recent episode of the “83 Weeks” podcast, Eric Bischoff voiced his opinion that Rey Fenix should be cast by WWE as a solo star, contrary to his pairing with Penta. Details from the podcast are shared below:
Discussing whether WWE should depict Rey Fenix as part of a tag team or as an independent star, Bischoff stated, “Unaware of how their tag team sphere is set up or what plans they have for the next half-year, it would seem wise to keep them separate till we are clear about it all.” He continued, “This isn’t a shock to anyone, WWE included. I’ve been in the know about this for several months. It initially showed up and gained attention, and he’s invested a lot of time in this. I’m sure WWE is mindful of the developments and present situation in some way. Perhaps they have a strategy or a basic outline of it in mind. But if they don’t, they should keep their prospects wide open.”
Bischoff suggested there might come a correct time to unify them because that scenario has a potential interest factor for the audience. Arguing further he said, “I believe fans familiar with these two from AEW would be inclined to see them together. But don’t serve them that instantly. If you are aware that’s what they are anticipating, provoke that excitement even more, which requires patience. Then you have a choice where you can introduce them, choose whether to work together or not. Planning that is a piece of cake, but I’d refrain from committing right away to keep my choices open.”
Bischoff also shared his views on the high ticket costs in WWE, asserting, “Kudos to them. The moment they halt ticket sales, that’s when they’ll realize they’ve exceeded the market threshold with the pricing.”
