Hall of Fame wrestler Eric Bischoff thinks that Rey Fenix is being treated like an incarcerated individual within AEW, under the watchful eye of Tony Khan.
Reports reveal that Khan has appended injury time to Fenix’s existing contract. As a consequence, Fenix has been unable to exit AEW alongside his companion Penta El Zero Miedo.
This extension in contract has been introduced despite there being no proposed storylines for Fenix at AEW. Moreover, Fenix has not participated in any of the promotion’s matches since July 2024.
Bischoff addressed Fenix’s circumstance in a recent episode of his podcast called “83 Weeks” and employed a jail-like metaphor to describe his situation, stating,
“Poor Fenix. He’s in ‘Khan-tonomo Bay.’ He’s in prison. Can’t go anywhere. His every attempt to do so is being thwarted. The fact that he was compelled to remove his tweets gives me all the information I need. He’s gaining attention. This is going to turn into a legal matter. Obviously, it is already, which implies it’s only going to get messier.”
In recent times, Fenix has expressed his discontent on social media, alleging lack of care, including when he required medical attention.
Fenix wrote in another contentious tweet “No one stays in a place where they received inhumane treatment“, a statement that many interpreted as a criticism of AEW.
On a recent episode of WWE RAW, a vignette themed around Zero was broadcast, prompting fans to speculate about the forthcoming debut of Penta.
