In a recent episode of his podcast “83 Weeks”, Eric Bischoff shared his thoughts about AEW’s decision to include The Costco Guys and The Rizzler in the Full Gear 2024 pre-show match against QT Marshall.
Check out some key takeaways from the podcast:
Speaking about AEW’s selection of The Costco Guys, Bischoff said, “It’s potentially the best thing they’ve had in a while. It’s largely due to the energy and how its popularity has spread. I did not watch the match, so I can’t provide a personal opinion. However, I’ve heard from multiple sources that the match was highly entertaining and exceeded expectations, which is amazing. Kudos to everyone involved.”
As for the AEW fanbase, Bischoff observed, “We’ve discussed the negativity among the AEW fan base. I’ve noticed it as well. It’s disappointing. However, in the end, people will only remember or react to how it felt when it concluded, probably forgetting all the negative commentary leading up to it. But it emphasizes the fact that the AEW fanbase is unique. I don’t think there’s a significant amount of crossover with WWE. There might be some. Without making any assumptions, I’d guess that around 30 to 40% of hardcore AEW fans occasionally tune into WWE. But for the most part, they probably don’t watch a lot of WWE. They are dedicated AEW fans.”
