Could a dip in WWE’s ratings result in the promotion rehiring CM Punk? Eric Bischoff believes it is possible.

It has been close to a decade since CM Punk walked out of WWE in January 2014 and given his recent AEW release, there has been speculation he could return.

During a recent edition of Konnan’s “Keepin’ It 100” podcast, Bischoff made it clear that he wouldn’t bet against Punk’s return if WWE needed to boost the rating. He said,

”If you ask me do you think if he’ll be there in the next three months? No. Six months? No. But once you go beyond six months, it all depends on what happens to the TV market. If the numbers are solid and continue to grow, I think it’s very unlikely. But I guarantee you that if those numbers take a big dip and there’s pressure on the company to do something to energize the market again and somebody brings up Punk’s name, I won’t bet against that.”

Bischoff also suggested that Punk would not be such a source of controversy backstage in WWE compared to his AEW tenure. He said,

“I don’t think there’s any risk involved, because Punk’s not gonna be able to pull into WWE and even remotely have an opportunity to have a repeat performance of what went on at AEW.”

Punk recently said that he is free for the next two months, leaving some to believe that he is returning to WWE at this November’s Survivor Series pay-per-view event in Chicago, IL.

It has been almost ten years since CM Punk walked out of WWE in January 2014, and with his recent release from AEW, fans have been wondering if he could make a comeback. During a recent episode of Konnan’s “Keepin’ It 100” podcast, Bischoff shared his thoughts on the matter.

Bischoff stated that he wouldn’t bet against Punk returning to WWE if the company needed to boost its ratings. However, he did mention that he didn’t see it happening in the next three to six months. The potential return would depend on the state of the TV market and if WWE’s numbers continue to decline.

The former WCW President also suggested that Punk would not be as controversial backstage in WWE compared to his time in AEW. Bischoff believes that Punk wouldn’t have the opportunity to repeat the performance that caused controversy during his tenure with AEW.

Punk recently mentioned that he is free for the next two months, leading some to speculate that he could make a surprise return at November’s Survivor Series pay-per-view event in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois.
