Eric Bischoff Fires Back At WWE Payroll Claims

Eric Bischoff, ex-WCW Prez responded to a claim by Bryan Alvarez who alleged that Bischoff receives finances from WWE for criticizing AEW on a recent episode of the “83 Weeks” podcast.

Highlights from the podcast are as follows:

Regarding the possibility of engaging in one-off collaborations with WWE ID promotions: “Certainly. WWE, undoubtedly, gets it right. If such an opportunity arises, I would entertain it quite seriously. I don’t mean to sound elitist, because that’s far from the truth. Personally, it’s down to the issue of travel for me. As I have constantly maintained, and people might not genuinely understand why I am so keen on this point, but traveling has become a serious challenge for me. It’s a major concern.

“So, I guess it will depend on the specifics, such as the timing, location, and frequency. But I won’t reject an opportunity to collaborate with WWE. They are the epitome of professionalism, treating you with respect. I generally have a splendid time. My mind remains open to possibilities, definitely, especially for ground-breaking projects like WWE ID. Being part of the inception would definitely pique my interest.”

On Bryan Alvarez’s statement that Bischoff is on WWE’s payroll: “This is quite hilarious. I don’t believe I’ve met Bryan Alvarez before, but he certainly doesn’t come off smart. His stupidity is evident in this situation. One doesn’t need a great deal of experience or common sense to figure this out, but unfortunately, Alvarez lacks both. I featured in two WWE episodes, one for NXT and the other for WWE on the A&E Network. Then, within 24 to 48 hours, I was on an MLW show, who were in the midst of a lawsuit with WWE. Would anyone, in their right mind, believe I am under contract with WWE?

“Furthermore, I don’t even have a Legend’s agreement with WWE. I am eagerly waiting for that back paycheck. I don’t have any signed contract with anyone. Not even a gentlemen’s agreement. If someone calls and I am free, and it seems interesting, I’ll make an appearance. This is applicable to everyone. If TNA or Impact reach out asking me to show up for something interesting, that fits into my schedule, I’ll be more than happy to do it. Bryan Alvarez and his partner Dave Meltzer does a perfect job demonstrating the ignorance of individuals who speak without having accurate information.”
