Throughout his experience in the wrestling industry, Eric Bischoff has witnessed a myriad of wrestlers showcase their skills. However, in his view, none were as overrated as his co-Hall of Famer, The Honky Tonk Man.
Recently, Bischoff was engaged in a conversation on his “83 Weeks” podcast where the subject of underrated and overrated talents was brought up. When asked about who he thought was the most overrated, Bischoff didn’t mince words. He strongly stated,
“F*g Honky Tonk Man [is the most overrated wrestler of all time.] Honky Tonk Man, by a mile.”
Interestingly enough, even with this opinion, Bischoff recruited the Honky Tonk Man to WCW in 1994. His recruitment was part of a string of hirings from previous WWF members, a list that also consisted of the legendary wrestler, Hulk Hogan.
The Honky Tonk Man terminated his contract with WCW the subsequent year, a decision that caused Bischoff to dub it his “most satisfying termination” during his tenure as an executive in the organization.
The Honky Tonk Man is widely recognized for his outstanding 454-day reign as Intercontinental Champion, a record that remained unbroken until GUNTHER surpassed it in 2023.
