In a recent episode of his podcast, “83 Weeks,” Eric Bischoff, a WWE Hall of Famer, spoke highly of Randy Orton, suggesting he deserves a farewell tour akin to John Cena’s. Key points from the podcast are discussed below.

Discussing the topic of a prospective retirement tour for Orton, Bischoff stated: “Both are in sort of the same frame. John Cena has publicly said, ‘This is my final hurrah.’ We haven’t heard something similar from Randy yet, but it wouldn’t be surprising. I firmly believe that Randy would be a prime candidate for a long drawn six-month, or even 12-month, farewell tour, much in line with what’s anticipated for Cena. He’s got immense equity built up in his character from an illustrious two-and-a-half decades long career. I am certain he could benefit from an impactful six-month or 12-month run. Perhaps this is a good starting point. Considering the depth and talent of the roster, they could manage situations akin to Kevin Owens.”

On the subject of WWE incorporating matches into the Hall of Fame, Bischoff commented: “I believe it’s remarkable that the inaugural match wasn’t a championship match or that there weren’t any actual stakes in the match. What compensated for that was the caliber of the match. It showcased the type of wrestling that resonates with me, and is often missed.

“While often, one does get glimpses of such charm in different organizations, the storytelling, timing, execution and selling of this match was exemplary. Both wrestlers sold the bout like pure artists. Selling a match is crucial to emotionally connect with the audience and make them empathize with you, which is a tremendous challenge. It requires as much skill as an actor or actress on Broadway would need to connect with their live audience. This particular match was a testament to that skill set. It was indeed captivating to watch.”
